Blair County leaders celebrate funding for rural broadband project in Juniata Twp.

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — On Friday morning, in Blair County, a ribbon cutting ceremony was hosted by Alleghenies Broadband Incorporated to celebrate the completion of part of the Capital Projects Fund.

Organizers tell 6 News that the fund is financed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in partnership with Crowsnest Broadband.

“A lot of folks in this area have little to no internet whatsoever, so now they're getting top of the line, the best of the best internet connection that money can buy. It really is game changing, no other way to say it.”

Officials with Alleghenies Broadband said they're excited to bring high-speed fiber optic internet service to rural Juniata Township.

Dustin Bishop, Alleghenies Broadband Inc. Project Manager, said, “A lot of folks in this area have little to no internet whatsoever, so now they're getting top of the line, the best of the best internet connection that money can buy. It really is game changing, no other way to say it.”

Zimmerman said the whole project should be wrapped up by end of spring this coming year.
